Dog On-The-Job with York Regional Police Officer

Draco, a 2 1/2 year old Belgian Malinois, is enjoying all the attention he is getting when accompanying his handler to work at the York Regional Police office located in Newmarket, ON. Trained for duty as a PTSD Service Dog by In Canis Speramus, this dog/handler team is a trailblazer within the law enforcement community. It is the first time in Canadian history that a police officer affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) returns to active duty accompanied by a Service Dog. Since PTSD is a health condition that is prevalent within the law enforcement community, this event sets an important precedent for other PTSD survivors returning to the work force.
